Money For Airline Bump
Written by mike on April 16, 2008 – 2:24 pm -If you have been bumped because your flight was overbooked, you are going to be entitled to $800 if delayed by more than 2 hours to your destination. If under 2 hours, you will be entitled to $400 per person under new aviation laws put into effect by a new Transportation Department ruling starting May 2008.
The old fine had a maximum of $400, and it had not been changed since 1978.
This is an attempt by the Government to keep Airlines from the heinous practice of overbooking flights, especially during holidays.
I have written about this before. My solution then was to increase fines against airlines to try to get them to stop this practice. Now it is going to happen. Ya-hoo!
