Fees For Airline Baggage and More
Written by mike on June 3, 2008 – 4:02 pm -In addition to cutting the number of flights and routes, airlines like American are charging a $15 fee for the first piece of luggage on EACH LEG OF A FLIGHT. I don’t know, but that sounds like multiple changes to travelers who either have to make connecting flights, or are trying to save money by flying longer routes with more stops.
What this means is more crowded flights and not as many seats available for low-cost pleasure travelers and more chances of getting bumped.
Airlines like Northwest, American, United, Delta, and Continental have begun charging $25 to check more than one suitcase. Plan to bring back your gift-basket or trophy in a box you won on your golf tournament, be prepared to fork over extra $$$. The free and easy days are over for now.
Also, the other airlines are sure to follow suit as gas prices climb or stay high.
Lastly, American has begun charging more for fees for services including checking pets, changing reservations and even booking travel for unaccompanied minors.
