Bionion’s $50,000 tournament in new poker room

Written by kelly on October 28, 2008 – 3:20 pm -

Bionion’s Gambling Hall in downtown Las Vegas will hold their $50,000 monthly Freeroll Tournament this December in their newly renovated poker room. Now I know a lot of people who want a chance at this $50,000 so this is what I found out. You can actually win a seat in this tournament by either winning a daily tournament or by earning 25 hours of live poker play but it has to be in the month of November only. Get ready to put in some hours at the poker tables. And, even if you don’t get a seat for the Freeroll Tournament you do earn $2 in comps per hour of live poker play, so you will either have a full belly or a full wallet.

Indians win big in gambling revenues and casino wars

Written by Jason on October 23, 2008 – 9:19 am -

I am told I am of French and American Indian descent. I cannot be part of the Tribal or Indian Nation business scene in the United States because I am a half breed. Still I am very happy to discover after some research that after 20 years of working the Indian Gaming Regualtory Act the Indians have now raked more money than Las Vegas and Atlantic City. My cool land wanderering Earth loving ancestors collected over 25 billion US dollars last year whereas Nevada brought in less than 13 billion and Atlantic City earned less than 5 million. I think the traveling all over and enjoying the world instead of hunkering down and dying at work is a trait I got from my Indian relatives and from the adventurous nature of the early French Explorers.

Hoover Dam Tours Las Vegas

Written by kelly on October 22, 2008 – 12:13 pm -

Hoover Dam is worth seeing and is very close to Vegas. Because of friends and family visiting I have been twice in seven days. The Hoover Dam straddles Nevada and Arizona and there is parking in each state but in Nevada you have to pay to park in the garage. There is a fee to get into the visitors center and a fee for each of the two tours they offer. Other than that you can take your time and stroll around and across the Hoover Dam and take pictures. The gift shop is barely bigger than a hotel bathroom and crowded with people bumping and rubbing into you as you are trying to get through aisles the width of a 2×4. The cafe is a tiny bit more accommodating. Make sure you order the Dam Dog. If you don’t go on a tour or into the visitors center, which we didn’t, then you won’t spend but maybe an hour. Make sure you stop by the Lakeside Overlook which is on the Nevada side. It overlooks Lake Mead, the marina, and a tunnel on the rail trail.

Danny Gans show at Mirage Las Vegas

Written by Jason on October 22, 2008 – 8:13 am -

Kelly and I saw the Danny Gans show at the Mirage on the strip the other night. The whole show was wierd for me in many ways. We received comped tickets because of our media status to review the show. That was good. He is without a doubt the most talented single performer I have ever seen. He has won entertainer of the year more often than any other performer by far. The voices and impersonations he does and SINGS are dead on. He can even sing like famous women. Absolutely perfect and extremely entertaining IF you like the people he is impersonating. I am 40 years old and I only liked about 25% of the impersonations. Thats where my negative feelings come in. Decent sized typical showroom without much elevation means the closer you can get the better. The stage performance consists of one guy singing and dancing in front of a stage band. Overall fun experience and kid safe. Ticket prices range from $60 to $190. DANNY IS MOVING TO THE ENCORE RESORT AND HOTEL. Steve Wynn is building Encore Resort, and it sits right next to Wynn Casino on the east side of the Strip at Spring Mountain Road, across from the Fashion Show Mall
