Homesick for Vegas

Written by Jason on July 21, 2008 – 3:59 pm -

Just got back from one of our epic trips around the United States working on my new book describing how a couple can live and travel all over exploring the United States on less than $50 a day, including food, fuel, and a nice clean bed every night.

Got very homesick after being out for a month because it rained so much on the East Coast. Out here in the desert the weather is wonderfully predictable. I missed the smell of gourmet foods cooking at the great restaurants on the strip, missed the poker tables, our church, the great shopping, our hot tub, our house, our friends.

We left Vegas on May 9th 2008 and got back July 16th 2008 after driving 10,112 miles. Main attractions were Bryce Canyon National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, Arches National Park, Florida beaches, Baltimore, Washington DC, Atlanta Georgia, and Virginia Beach. Had we done this trip over the course of 6 months it would have cost about $14 per day in fuel, $6 average per day in parking fees/entrance fees/occasional hotel room stays, leaving $30 a day to spend on our favorite activity when traveling - wining and dining. We sleep in a special custom outfitted van so most of the time there are no hotel costs or problems with lodging.

Airlines To Weigh You At Check In

Written by mike on June 3, 2008 – 4:57 pm -

Emergency times call for emergency measures. Airlines are have combined losses of over $6 billion dollars this year.
Airlines are considering charging your airline travel by the pound - your pounds, how much you weight, the same way freight carriers do. Airlines tried weighing passengers in the 1970’s, and they found it was very hard to get customers on the scale, “nearly impossible,” said one air travel agent.
Experts say the solution lies in capacity cuts - less flights, using filled planes. Which means airlines are starting to sideline their own jets. Customers will notice any service cuts, and competitors can take advantage of that. Competition for customers is going to get stiff, try to get the best deal you can flying to Las Vegas at MyRealVegas.
Kiki Kalor says to try her diet plan. Dance off that meal you just ate!
Southwest solution is to fly slower. You won’t notice since it’s only 72 seconds slower. Could mean more flight delays, and penalities have been doubled against the airlines this year for passenger delays and bumps.
Southwest will charge passengers for 2 seats if the armrest can not be lowered.
