Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is now Planet Hollywood - by Kiki

Aladdin Hotel And Casino in Las Vegas

Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is now Planet Hollywood, a Sheraton Resort. The Aladdin was originally built in 1963 as the Tally-Ho but was later nicknamed the "Vegas Jinx." It has gone through many owners, bankruptcies, remodels and closings. In 1997 it was imploded except for a performing arts center. In 2000, it reopened as the Aladdin Resort but the troubles just didn't go away. Planet Hollywood took over the bankrupt Aladdin in 2003 and renovations began in 2006.

It has a new look, more glitz and neon, Hollywood style. Although renovations were going on, the hotel remained open for business. Vegas runs its own amazing magic show with casino changes that seem overnight. The bill ran about $120 million for the make-over. The Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has been featured in several movies such as The Cooler, Going in Style and the Criss Angel Mindfreak show on A&E Network. In 2006 and 2007 it was the site of the Miss America pageant.

This Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas picture shows its great location on the Strip. Situated next to the Paris and across the street from the Bellagio, the Aladdin is in the heart of the Strip. When you order a room with a view of the Strip, you'll be able to see the dancing fountains of Bellagio and the Vegas nightlife.

The Aladdin has definitely undergone some changes from the day Elvis and Priscilla got married there in 1967. One of the problems with the Aladdin was that people walking on the Strip could not find the entrance. Now, it's got a huge flashing sign in the front that blinks 'Entrance.' When you entered the dark corridor, it would take you through the shopping mall not the casino. The mall winds around the side of the casino and leads you back out to the Strip.

The middle-Eastern theme is out and Hollywood is in. Eight huge chandeliers made out of 66,000 hand strung crystals are suspended from the lobby's high domed ceiling. Glass walls behind the check-in desk slowly change neon colors. They are lined with bands of LED lights that put you in a trance as you're waiting in line to check in. Even the floors are glamorous in sleek, black granite.

In this Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas image you'll notice the Moroccan theme is out and the Hollywood glitz is in.
This Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas photo features the new Hollywood glamour look in the gaming area. The walls and lighting fixtures change colors from neon blue, red, purple and green. It's part of the renovations of the hotel which is now called Planet Hollywood.

But I have to say that even with the new changes it's still very confusing to walk through the casino. The gaming area downstairs has floor to ceiling, wide, black and white stripped columns that are very bold and more upscale. Large rectangular light fixtures glow in neon colors. The look is very modern.

The Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has over 2,500 luxury guest rooms and oversized suites, two heated pools on the sixth floor with Strip views. A 32,000 square foot spa ready for your indulgence, open daily from 8am-7pm. You can get a spray tan or whiten you teeth there. The hotel has two wedding chapels. One is a very romantic Mediterranean style chapel with hand-painted garden themes on arches and columns. The other seats up to 60 people and is decorated in desert colors.

One of the advantages of staying at the Aladdin is its location. It's in the middle of the Strip next to the Paris Hotel. So you can easily walk to the Paris, the Bellagio or even Caesar's down the street. For a convenient place to stay, check out the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
