Make sure to take the highway from McCarran International Airport unless you want to spend a lot of money sightseeing on the Strip in your taxi. Quick check-in here. Should feel lucky which is good because Mr. O'Charm is the resident luck piece. While you're looking around for lucky charms, note the cool stamped metal ceiling near the check-in on the 3rd floor. Beautiful marble floors installed in the lobby are a nice touch.
Cocktails come fast in the Casino Fitzgeralds Hotel in Las Vegas. On St. Paddy's Day they serve green beer. Slots are loose and will make you feel lucky. Poker room and sports betting are not a big deal here like they are at the Imperial Palace and the Flamingo. No Limit Texas Hold'Em Tournaments are held every day at noon and 9pm. Check for entry fees. There are also Keno and high stakes Bingo tournaments regularly.
If you want more food choices than the Fitz has try Fremont Street which has everything from hot dogs on the street to swanky restaurants in the Golden Nugget. Fitzgerald's does have a McDonald's and a Krispy Kreme store where it's magical to see the donuts being made in the machine. The Stratosphere Casino is also near downtown and it has a wide variety of dining choices and a food court.
Fitzgeralds Hotel Casino in Las Vegas is quite the place to be when you want to vacation in authentic Vegas style. Known as glitter gulch and vintage Vegas, this downtown hotel stands first in line and is the tallest building of them all. Rooms are clean and unexpectedly quiet. Expect fresh linens daily. Fitz has lots of staff. Don't be afraid to ask for something as they are here to get it for you. If you want great value on the Strip I suggest you look into Harrah's. Catch Vegas as it was meant to be. The whole Fremont Street scene should be experienced by everyone at least once. The street performers change constantly. Showroom entertainment like the Larry G.
