Benefits Of Spicy Foods
Benefits
of spicy foods are potentially enormous as spicy food products make their way
into every restaurant and grocery store at a furious pace. Spicy foods are thought
to cure everything from stomach ulcers and impotence to Alzheimer's now. Boomers,
those aging hipsters born in between 1946 and 1964, have an insatiable appetite for
every kind of food product that is spicy, including chocolates, peanuts, jerky and
chicken. From Whole Foods to Albertson's, every grocery store is now loaded
with spicy products. Restaurants like Fridays offers spicy dishes named Wicked Wings,
while over at McDonalds you can now buy Chipotle BBQ Snack Wraps. Spicy Guacamole
Pringles line the shelves at most grocery chains. Spices, hot sauces and eye-watering
concoctions are now found at all points. Chocolates with cayenne pepper are
the latest trend; I know I buy them from "Vosges". They come as mid-size
candy bars with large size price tags - $7. At that price I nibble them away. But
that is ok, since they are really spicy hot; they contain ingredients like wasabi,
ginger and cayenne. There is even a chocolate bar at Vosges in "Caesars's Forum
Shops". You can sit down and enjoy your spicy chocolates like a fine glass of
wine. Does anyone know why everything is so hot? Seriously, our lives are being
invaded by these sinus-clearing, spicy foods. Some say it's our previously bland diet
being invaded by immigrants taste for spicier food. Others think its cayenne and chili
pushing their trendy way into the limelight. Food researchers and marketers think
they have another idea. It's the Boomers they say that are driving the market
for spicy foods. Boomers, in their quest to stay young and fit, want their spicy foods
to have the same effect when they were younger. But as we age, our taste buds need
more stimulus to do what they did before. So the marketplace has been moving toward
bolder and more flavorful foods. The marketplace is responding because there are 80
million Boomers, and they control more wealth than any group on earth. This
is good, because I love spicy food. Vegas has plenty of spicy
restaurants where you can get all heated up. Take a look at our best
spicy restaurants page. More and more health benefits are being derived
from the ingredients in spices than ever before. Studies are being conducted in Thailand
on capsaicin. As capsaicin is eaten in large quantities it is thought to lower blood
clotting. Capsaicin is also known to lower triglycerides in the blood, which could
be good for heart disease in America. In India they are studying the effects of turmeric
in their diet, and the fact: India citizens have 75% less Alzheimer's than Americans.
