Las Vegas Award Winning Restaurant
Gandhi
Las Vegas Award Winning Restaurant Gandhi will transport you
to India with its authentic Indian food
that is perfectly spiced. Award winning and cheap do not usual go hand in hand.
Especially in Las Vegas, where you can easily pay over $100 and walk away thinking,
"I can cook better than that!" With a 10% coupon from "What's On Magazine",
I even paid for my friend's meals too. This is a great place to go for inexpensive
spicy food and "all you can eat". How good is the food? Fresh,
flavorful, and spicy - down right yummy. This is not a mega-buffet. Everything is
humble and looks like real food to me. Tandoori Chicken is thickly, deeply spiced,
yet it does not hide the high quality of the chicken meat. Want even more spice; try
the Lamb Vindaloo in the brightly colored yellow-orange sauce. The peppery spice will
hit your forehead immediately. Fresh salads start the buffet. Most dishes though,
are spiced, and open up the nose. It's all you can eat, so try everything. If
consistency is your preference, the Las Vegas award winning restaurant Gandhi will
not disappoint you. Yes, they serve lamb and chicken, but the way it is prepared varies.
I guess this is because so many regulars dine here. But it is also a nice way to sample
the variations in Gandhi's family recipes. I went on the day before a holiday.
"That's why we are crowded," explained the waiter; "tomorrow they will
not be able to come." Here is a buffet and a restaurant that is supported by
regulars. I could have avoided the line though, and gone for the hot food at the end
of the single-sided buffet as my friend did. I choose to wait patiently with the mostly
Indian patrons in the line. Indians are quiet, polite and patient. The food is the
star. Just minutes from Strip, Gandhi is a bit shabby on the outside. Inside
is a different story. There are 2 rooms and an upstairs which was not being used by
diners. The rooms are orderly, clean and tastefully decorated. I was going to leave
after I saw the uninspiring outside. Some think that's a sign of greatness though,
make everything about the food. But once inside I was inspired by the friendly
atmosphere and seductive odor of spices. It also helps to know Gandhi has been given
numerous Best Restaurant awards by the "Review Journal" by both readers
and RJ staff. This Las Vegas award winning restaurant is my good friend's "favorite
Indian restaurant." Make sure you try Chicken Makanwala and the spicy Lamb Vindaloo
along with the Saag Paneer. The authoritative use of spices and herbs will take you
thousands of miles back to India, that's why the Indians patronize Gandhi. Jain food
is also available. Let me tell you, there is a lot of talk about the spice turmeric
amongst the hard science circles. Turmeric is the main ingredient in most Indian sauces.
Someone has finally noticed that Indians have 75% less Alzheimer's than Americans.
And the most likely reason is the anti-inflammatory ingredient of curcumin in turmeric.
Gandhi Restaurant uses turmeric in prodigious proportions. Perhaps next year the motto
will be "Eat to remember." Get to Gandhi before the boomers find out about
the spicy food and only a tip will get you past the Maharaji at Las Vegas Award
Winning Restaurant Gandhi.
