Vegas Indian Restaurant Gandhi
Vegas
Indian Restaurant Gandhi is your passport to India. Their goal is to transport
you thousands of miles back to India, and present you with real food from the provinces,
both north and south. I will tell you, Gandhi's is very successful and its authentic
Indian food is perfectly spiced. Most of the clientele are from India. This is
the real thing. Award winning and very inexpensive do not usual go hand in hand.
Vegas are full of fancy restaurants and it is easy to pay over $100 a person and leave
thinking that was ok, nothing special. If you are slightly adventurous, you will want
to eat at this very good "all-you-can-eat buffet" for an unbelievable price.
Check out our "coupon page" for more deals. Gandhi is the place for inexpensive
spicy food and "all you can eat". How good is the food? Fresh
and flavorful - down right yummy. Start with Mango Lassi. It's mango juice with yogurt
and you have to order it from your waiter. I dream of this drink. It is insanely good.
I limit myself to one. You basically drink it to cool down the spices. You don't have
to have it; the food is not that spicy. But it's a perfect drink; I wished they served
it everywhere we go. Gandhi also has a good selection of wine and beers, Indian beers
too. This is not a mega-buffet. The food is on one side of a buffet that stretches
down for a mere 20 feet. This is not the 500 feet of buffet like you have at Bellagio,
or Wynn. What you get at Gandhi
are dishes like Tandoori Chicken that is thickly, deeply spiced, yet it does not hide
the high quality of the chicken meat. Want even more spice; try the Lamb Vindaloo
in the eye-catching yellow-orange sauce. Both are cooked in clay pits. The peppery
spice will hit and open up your sinuses. Specialty dishes like Saag Paneer and fresh
salads start the buffet. Most dishes are spiced. It's all you can eat, so try everything. If
consistency is your preference, Vegas Indian restaurant Gandhi will not disappoint.
That's why the same people come to eat day in and day out. The clay pit cooked main
courses like Chicken Tikka and Lamb Vindaloo are prepared slightly differently during
the week, giving the regulars something to talk about. Of course many dishes come
and go throughout the month to keep it interesting but not nouveau. Most diners
line back up at the beginning of the line when going for 2nds or 3rds. I could have
avoided the line though, and gone for the hot food at the end of the single-sided
buffet as my friend did. I choose to wait patiently with the mostly Indian patrons
in the line. Indians are quiet, polite and patient. The room is not noisy, there is
not hustle bustle, just quiet, orderly service and more food making an appearance.
The food is the star. Just minutes from Strip, Gandhi is a bit shabby on the
outside. This is not a "romantic restaurant" in the western sense. But I
will say Gandhi is unique. The ceiling must be 25 feet high. But this same cathedral
ceilings gives way to a friendly atmosphere and the warm, balmy, seductive odor of
spices. Gandhi, open for years, has been given numerous Best Restaurant awards
by the "Review Journal". Its "high rating" for "Best Ethnic
Restaurant" comes from both readers and RJ staff. It's also my good friend's
favorite Indian restaurant.
Vegas Indian restaurant Gandhi is at Paradise and Flamingo, a pleasant walk from "Bally's",
or Caesar's. Let me tell
you, there is a lot of talk about the spice turmeric amongst the hard science circles.
Turmeric is the main ingredient in most Indian sauces. Someone has finally noticed
that Indians have a whopping 75% less Alzheimer's than Americans. Scientists think
the reason is the anti-inflammatory ingredient of curcumin in turmeric. Gandhi uses
turmeric throughout their sauces. Perhaps next year the motto will be "Eat to
remember." Get to Gandhi before the boomers find out about the spicy food and
it will be standing room only at Vegas Indian Restaurant Gandhi.
