Bear's Best Golf Course has a brilliant concept. It's a golf course made of the best golf holes. The holes are working replicas taken from the golf courses Jack Nicklaus has built. Jack chose the holes himself from over 250 golf courses he designed from Mexico to Montana. Only the Royal Links a compilation course of the golf holes from the British Open is like it.

Now you can tangle with the Golden Bear in the desert. Bear's Best Golf Course is a desert course with mountains on the east side as seen in this photo, with an incredible view of the Strip to the west.

Presently there are only 2 golf courses in the U.S. which have the name Bear's Best Golf Course. The other one is in Atlanta. To create a harmonious experience Jack chose holes from his courses which are similar in topography. At one time, a PGA tour was made in Texas on the Tour 18 which was a collection of 18 of the greatest holes from every kind of golf course. This prototype failed to create a flowing, harmonious golf experience.

Nicklaus actually had to get permission from the golf courses he designed to re-create the holes. The holes are not clones. He remade them to fit the terrain, and the shot values are the same between the replicated hole and the real one. Nicklaus took designs from his Desert Mountain in Scottsdale, Palmilla Golf Club in Los Cabos, Mexico, Arizona Castle Pines in Colorado and PGA West in Palm Springs, California.

There are 2 Bear's Best Golf Courses, one in Las Vegas and the other in Atlanta as pictured in this photo. Each hole has been chosen by Jack Nicklaus from his 250 signature courses to be replicated and made into these unique and challenging courses.

The course in Vegas is not particularly long or tight. But it can be tough on the scorecard so a forecaddie is required. The caddies are very friendly and give great advice on how to play the course when asked. It makes it more fun. You will fully appreciate them when you hit the black sand bunker on hole-11 from Old Works in Montana. This course is deceptive and requires unusual calculations where other courses are just obvious water, sand and trees.

Gold Digest Magazine gives Bear's Best Golf Course 4.5 stars. It's located in a very populated part of Vegas yet it has great views of the Strip. The course is over 7,000 yards long, but interestingly you won't see any of it from the clubhouse. The slope and rating is 147 / 74. There is only water on 2 of the holes, but they are difficult. Hole 8 is a whopping 600 yards long, and a par-5. But don't worry, it's wide and there are no fairway bunkers.
