royal links golf las vegas is exactly like playing at the british open only in vegas - by Mike

Royal Links Golf Las Vegas

Royal Links Golf Las Vegas has re-created the British Open in Las Vegas with this themed golf course. It's just another reason why Vegas, with over 70 golf courses is a top golfing destination in the world. According to seasoned golf commentator David Feherty Royal Links is like playing in his homeland Scotland only without the rain and the harsh 40 mph wind in your face. Don't forget to reserve your time. Royal Links does not take walk ups. Other themed courses you might want to try include Bali Hai and Bear's Best.

Royal Links is an open rotation course. Holes from famous golf courses overseas like St. Andrews, Royal Troon, Prestwick, Muirfield, Carnourstie, and Turnberry have been faithfully re-created. The most challenging golf holes like 'Hell Bunker' and 'The Road Hole,' from St. Andrews, and 'The Postage Stamp' from Royal Troon have been copied and put into Royal Links Golf Las Vegas.

I recommend you use the caddies on hand. The Scottish designed holes have lots of deep, hidden bunkers and hazards. 'Hell Hole' is the size of a large fox hole and about 6 feet deep, it's like a well. Once in the idea is you can't get out. This is not your typical round of golf. But it is sure to provide lots of memorable golfing.

The 'Postage Stamp' hole is 140 yards from the tee. It's a tiny green, yes, like a postage stamp and full of deep bunkers and rolling undulations. Then there is 'The Road Hole,' one has to hit the ball over the scoreboard to be in prime position for the next shot. Take it in stride, have fun.

When you play Royal, take the time to look at the monuments around the course. These unusual items are in fact spots where great moments in the British Open occurred. For the Americans that won the British Open, there is even a wall honoring those near the practice green. Think you can beat Tiger Woods? He shot a course record of 67 in 2001.

It's true the golf is Scottish and difficult. So afterwards relax in the clubhouse that looks like a British castle. Inside is an authentic pub serving British beers and food. There is a huge replica of the Claret Jug Open Championship trophy. How cool is that.

Royal Links Golf takes reservations 90 days in advance. Make sure you negotiate for a lowered rate. Try to find a local to golf with if you are from out of town. Overall the best rates here are on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after 3:30pm, dropping down by 75%. I don't like to pay top rates, so I assume you don't either.

Rental shoes by FootJoy are available. There are walking caddies as well as forecaddies, I recommend you use them, as you will have more fun. There is lots of history at work on this course.

Royal Links has won over 10 local awards, including the prestigious 'Best Golf Course in Vegas' by the Las Vegas power paper, Las Vegas Review Journal. With over 70 golf courses to choose from make sure your next golf vacation includes the thoroughly original experience at Royal Links Golf Las Vegas.
