Shadow Creek Golf Course
Shadow
Creek golf course is the most exclusive golf course in Vegas. It's also private.
You must be a registered guest at one of the MGM Mirage properties to play here, similar
to the rules at Wynn Golf Course. If you have your
choice of all the golf courses in Las Vegas, choose wisely, play at Shadow Creek.
Every golfer dreams of playing at here. You can expect to have this course mostly
to yourself, as only a couple of dozen people golf on it each day. Mostly golf pros
and celebrities play here. Will I be playing this course soon? Depends, if I won the
lottery, or my doctor has given me final papers, or I am just feeling foolish. The
green fee is at least $500. Only the Wynn Golf Course
at the Wynn has fees over $500. That's ridiculous, for one game of golf, you say.
I am inclined to agree. Or, is it?
Shadow
Creek Golf Course photo of hole 17 shows why it's the hottest course in Vegas. Mature
trees, mountains, incredibly well maintained fairways and greens are what you can
expect from one of the highest price green fees in Las Vegas. MGM tells
us it's a deal. They point out $500 includes a limo ride to and from the course, personal
caddie, golf cart, shoes, snacks and locker next to Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods and
Michael Jordan. You will find the course extremely well maintained. There is no telling
who you will meet - George Clooney, Richard Branson, Tiger Woods, the sky is the limit.
It's a once in a life-time experience. Perhaps it is not that overpriced when you
add it all up. Don't want to pay. Get comped. Gamble up a storm at Mirage, Bellagio,
MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, NY-NY, Monte Carlo, Treasure Island, Circus
Circus or any of the MGM Mirage properties, and you will be comped. Just tell them
you really like golf. And you plan to come back with your buddies. How much did you
say you gambled? Casino management is going to send a jet for you and your friends.
Expect casinos to be friendly like that.
Eoxtic
birds like this peasant in the photo enjoy what Shadow Creek Golf Course has to offer
too. The mature trees and winds that greet you make this a demanding course, and once
in a lifetime play. Shadow Creek Golf Course is 13 miles North of Desert
Inn and Las Vegas Blvd. Get on Interstate I-15 and go north. Don't bother driving
up on your own for a look-see; Shadow Creek Drive has gate access only. You won't
even get a peek from the road. The course is dug into the desert and there is a 10
foot fence. Get the limo, do it right. Here is what you can expect: Shadow Creek
Golf Course was created for a colossal $60 million dollars in1989 on a 350 acre site.
It was built for and originally open only to high-rollers. This 18-hole course was
designed by Tom Fazio under Steve Wynn's guidance. Years later Steve
Wynn would hire Fazio again to design the Wynn Golf Course at the Wynn. The
greatest and latest golf course designer, Tom Doak who is in high demand from clients
like Steve Case founder of AOL and gets a $1 million dollar fee, had some interesting
things to say about Steve Wynn in his book "Confidential Guide to Golf Courses."

Shadow
Creek Golf Course photo of hole 18 shows why this is a combination of every golf shot
and every setting created on the rest of the holes at Shadow Creek. It's why every
golfer dreams of playing Shadow Creek. What a great gift to give. Doak
thought Wynn's sense of showmanship and pacing made for a very enjoyable round in
the way the course builds up to a climax. Doak also said golf architects could learn
a lot from show biz experts like Steve Wynn. You can purchase Tom Doak's out-of-print,
rare book "Confidential Guide to Golf Courses" on EBay. It usually auctions
off at around $500. Doak is sometimes referred to as the course whisperer, for his
rare insights into golf. Fazio's Shadow Creeks' greens wind around waterfalls,
rolling hills and lakes. The picturesque rocky outcrops, exotic birds and flowing
rivers might have you believing it's natural. Illusions play a grand part of getting
your emotions up. Because when you are excited, you gamble, and Vegas is all about
excitement. Everything leads back to gambling, even elite golf courses like Shadow
Creek golf course.
