Insider Secret - Every hotel in Vegas has timeshare people trying to rope you in with their aggressive pitches. The best thing to do, if you are not interested, is to ignore them or make them work for you by asking them directions to where you need to go. |
On the Strip, the Excalibur Hotel Las Vegas is conveniently located near other major casinos. So if you don't find what you need at the Excalibur you can easily walk over to the New York, New York and from there to the MGM Grand. The MGM is the monorail's point of departure. It will take you all the way up the Strip to the Sahara and even stops at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
On the southern side of the Excalibur, a free tram runs to the Luxor and the Mandalay Bay. These 3 casinos are connected to one another so it's easy to walk from one to the other without ever going outside. Very convenient when the Summer temperatures hit over 100 degrees.
Check-in at the Excalibur Hotel Las Vegas is fairly quick and the staff is friendly. To get to the registration desk from the parking lot is a long haul, so I recommend you Valet Park for free and start your vacation stress-free. Hotels in Vegas always seem to be doing some remodeling. I suggest trying to get one of these rooms as they will be more modern. Make sure the room you are given is not near any construction. It can be a real nuisance with an unwanted wake-up call at 7 am.
For the best Vegas views, the Widescreen King or Queen rooms are the ones you want. They have a 42"plasma TV, an alarm clock with iPod adaptability and granite countertops in the bathrooms. The higher the floor, the better the view. Tower 1 rooms have great views of the Strip. Rooms are very clean and showers have good pressure. You'll find a safe in the room but no coffee maker or fridge.
If you're not able to get a renovated room, you might find them a bit dark and somewhat tired but clean. Staying at the Excalibur can be a great deal which will save you money but don't expect the type of luxury you would find at the Bellagio or Caesar's Palace. The money you save can be spent on a fine dinner for two at The Steakhouse at Camelot. Otherwise, the Excalibur is a good place to bring kids. For a fun place to visit, stay at the Excalibur Hotel Las Vegas.
