Las Vegas Fitzgeralds Hotel overview of one of downtown Vegas hotel casinos - by Jason

Fitzgeralds Hotel Las Vegas

Fitzgeralds offers one of the best vantages from which to view the Fremont Street Experience show and enjoy the old Vegas at its best. Downtown is for cheap hard down to earth partying similar to what you might find in New Orleans: spontaneous wild times with the added bonus of fun low buy in carefree gambling. Everything here is smaller than on the Strip, but downtown throbs with the original authentic, not-forgotten, Las Vegas love of the fun life.

The best thing about downtown is you can walk everywhere because all 12 main casinos are hooked nearly right to each other or across a pedestrian only road. You don't need a car at all. If you want to hit the strip one day while staying downtown simply jump on the bus for $2 or so.

The Fitzgeralds is nice because they have some Jacuzzis rooms also. You have to request them though. The room was clean and relatively quiet especially considering its an older hotel. Be sure to use this page to make your reservation because you'll get lower rates.

Fitzgeralds is the only downtown casino/hotel with two floors of gaming action: most casinos being of the original old world saloon style. Fitzgerald Comp policy is generous for gamblers and they give free poker, craps and blackjack lessons most days. Make sure and get a players card because downtown is a niche market for casinos so they tend to give very good free packages including rooms and buffets for much less gambling play time than the strip does.

On driving in. Be careful navigating in and out of the parking garage. The ramps are narrow and winding, and there is only a 6' 2" clearance for cars which meant I had to park across the street in paid parking because my van is 12" taller than that.
