Harrah's Hotel Las Vegas is located smack dab in the heart of Vegas. The casino is noisy, tight and it's the real thing. Action gets really hot in the poker room on the weekends. There's plenty of entertainment both in the casino and outside too. That's rare for Vegas. Be aware that check-in time is 4pm and there's no child care.

At Harrah's Hotel Las Vegas there are 2,500 rooms and suites. The two towers are Mardi Gras and Carnival. Carnival's rooms are smaller but better furnished. Try to get a room with a view of the Strip; unfortunately there are not many. The shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower are small and you'll need new ones everyday. Still the value is very good for where you are. For the location, the value here is better than the Sahara. While Harrah's is conveniently located in the heart of the Strip it is also easy to miss the entrance to the parking garage. We enter from the back using Koval Lane. From Harrah's you can easily walk across the street to the Mirage, or next door to "Imperial Palace."

We recommend The Range Steakhouse, which is better than average, and has an outstanding view of passersby on the Strip. Other choices for you include the Asian fusion cuisine at Ming's Table, Italian food at Penazzi's, funky all-American food at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill. Flavors Buffet is popular, you might have to wait an hour to get in. Hungry for a more elaborate buffet try Le Village Buffet at the Paris.

The poker room is not large but there is lots of hot action at Harrah's Hotel Las Vegas. There are 15 TVs and food service is available at the poker tables. Every kind of table gambling from baccarat to Pai-Gow poker is here and run by some of the friendliest dealers in Vegas. Lots of progressive slots and high-limit video poker games too. Horse wagering can be had in the Race and Sports Books with its big, comfortable seats. Not as large as the Sports Book at the Hilton, but waitresses are quick to bring you a free drink.

Want to gamble and have a little entertainment? Try Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill where you can be in the pit while playing blackjack or casino war and listening to live bands on stage. We personally like the piano bar when the blonde dueling female twins are performing. Check out their Devil Made Me Do It song and watch the audience go wild. Our favorite comedian is Rita Rudner.
