las vegas planet hollywood hotel my experiences at one of the biggest hotel casinos in Vegas - by Jason

Planet Hollywood Hotel Las Vegas

Planet Hollywood was originally the Aladdin, with an entrance from the strip so confusing people would literally just stop on the street and stare and point then leave. Whoever came up with this Arabian themed casino idea must have had his head in the sand as it was a financial failure for pretty much its entire life. I mean with the political situation the way it is what were they thinking.

Well those days are gone and the new Planet Hollywood is something else entirely. I think of it as pure American retail, a money making paradise filled with hundreds of shops, clubs, eateries, shows, and gambling opportunities.

Planet Hollywood has lots of action going on 24/7 whether you are inside the casino or outside on the Strip or shopping the Miracle Mile.

Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is seriously big, worth seeing, and worth spending some good time in. You won't be disappointed. Besides it is really one of the best location in the city for seeing other places as well. Bellagio is across the street. Paris is next door. You can walk to "Project City Center," the Monte Carlo and the MGM Grand. On the north side of the Strip you have easy access to Bally's, the Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Harrah's and the Mirage.

The V-Theater offers free acrobatic shows during the day. Steve Wyrick's mega-entertainment complex is a 500 seat theater for his afternoon and evening shows. His bar and lounge turn into a 4-level ultra-lounge on weekends.

Overview: massive recreation of pure American retail in a great location
Location: Center Las Vegas Strip
Restaurants: My recommendations are Trader Vic's for the view, but if sports and girls are what you came for then see the newest Hawaiian Tropic Zone, otherwise this place is packed with over 40 places to eat from Brazilian to seafood and all the round to Mexican and Italian.
Nightclubs, Lounges: LA Comedy Club is nearly on the strip in Trader Vics, and you can get some dancing in at Triq or Privé Nightclub
Casino: 130,000+ square feet, including Blackjack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Craps, Keno, Let It Ride, Baccarat, Pai Gow Poker, Poker, Roulette, more than 2,900 slot machines, and poker room, small race & sports book for about 70 people with big screens for viewing major events.
Entertainment: we saw V The Ultimate Variety Show on a two for one ticket and it was worth it. Great for kids too. It features lots of different acts that wouldn't be able to stand on their own not because they aren't great but because you ant watch them for two hours. However when you throw them all together one after the other for 10 to 15 minutes each it is quite entertaining. The showroom however was pitiful. I felt like I was at a high school play compared to other shows like O and KA. There is a magic show. The musical Stomp Out Loud gets rowdy in its own showroom. Gregory Popovich's Comedy Pet Theater is funny but he doesn't use the critters enough
Pools: 2 big pools and 2 big hot tubs in the bushes
Health Club or Spa: huge spa by Mandara is quite modern
Shopping: the very reason many stay here is access to the incredible first class shopping at Miracle Mile Shops with over 160 to choose from. Many of these stores are one offs you cannot find anywhere else in the world.
Wedding chapel: numerous packages available
Childcare facilities: None
Pets allowed: No
Parking garage: massive 10 story free indoor parking garage plus extremely limited outdoor parking for oversized vehicles, use valet its worth it
Shuttle service to the airport: back and forth to the airport by a private company, better to take a cab unless you are real short on cash.
Shuttle service to Strip: Planet Hollywood is ON the strip, no shuttle needed
Hotel amenities: Typical, plus valet parking, salon, currency exchange, laundry, luggage handling, electronic check-out.
Miscellaneous: Check-in time is 3 pm and Check-out time is 11 am. The minimum age to reserve a room is 21 years and there is a maximum number of guests per room of four. Must provide a credit card for incidentals
