las vegas riviera hotel my opinions on this older well established strip hotel casino in Las Vegas - by Jason

Riviera Hotel Las Vegas

Riviera boasts a neon glowing super glass black star studded exterior showcasing the old Vegas style that is hard not to love despite all the new alternatives. Situated right across the Strip from Circus Circus this oldie but a goodie joint still offers some real fun, cheaply and with a nice dark charm.

The Riviera Hotel sign is actually the outside wall of this casino and is really fun to watch at night. It might sound corny but the rainbow of colors, patterns and shapes of the neon lights is mesmerizing and is one of the best facades from an old casino.

Decent rooms, low prices, established show schedule, and strip location make this a good value, but don't come here looking for anything 4 star. The newest rooms are named Monte Carlo and Monaco towers. Ask for a room in the San Remo tower to overlook the pool at Riviera Hotel Las Vegas.

For a good dining experience with exceptional value try Kristofer's Steak House. Entrees include hot baked bread, choice of salad and dessert. Italian cuisine is served at Ristorante Italiano. Get a coupon or free line pass to the World's Fare Buffet if you want to eat right away and like big portions and variety. It's good for the price but for top buffets go to Paris, Aladdin, Bellagio or Wynn.

Overview: Old style quick and dirty strip gambling & vegas show experience
Location: Central Las Vegas Strip
Restaurants: Join the players club for two for one tickets on most of the eateries here. I liked the Barbeque but it was messy. Limited, nothing fancy except for the good deals at Kristofer's Steak House.
Nightclubs, Lounges: few smaller ones for cheap drinks
Casino: 110,000 square feet, including Blackjack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Craps, Keno, Let It Ride, Baccarat, Megabucks, Pai Gow Poker, more than 1,600 slot machines, and very small smoky poker room, race & sports book has seating for 32 people with 10 TV's.
Entertainment: Crazy Girls topless revue has been running for at least 20 years and gets updated every 3 years or so. A Neil Diamond Tribute show has been running for many years so for some it's great to remember back. I have been to the Comedy Club numerous times and it has always been worth the admission price though at times it does get crowded and the seating is awkward. I suggest going to the earlier show to avoid this. An Evening At La Cage is a drag-queen show that I cannot to this day bring myself to see. Others think its entertaining and funny. For kids there is a childrens arcade
Extras: lighted tennis courts
Pools: 1 medium sized old fashioned pool with limited seeting around.
Health Club or Spa: Yes both with massage on site
Shopping: no shops to speak of. Check out this list for serious shopping.
Wedding chapel: numerous packages for the onsite chapel offered
Childcare facilities: No
Pets allowed: No
Parking garage: free indoor parking garage
Shuttle service to the airport: back and forth to the airport by a private company, better to take a cab unless you are real short on cash.
Shuttle service to Strip: Riviera is ON the strip, no shuttle needed
Hotel amenities: Typical services, plus valet parking, salon, tennis courts, laundry, luggage handling, electronic check-out.
Miscellaneous: Check-in time is 3 pm and Check-out time is 11 am. The minimum age to reserve a room is 21 years and there is a maximum number of guests per room of four. Must provide a credit card for incidentals
