Las Vegas Marriage License
Las
Vegas marriage license is easy to obtain. But don't wait until the last minute
to get it because on some days the waiting line can be seen circling around the building.
It's OK to be fashionably late to your wedding, but you don't want to miss the most
romantic day of your life and be stressed out. Keep in mind that Las
Vegas weddings are performed only for a male and female couple. No same sex or
multiple marriages are allowed in Nevada. Some Las
Vegas chapels do cater to gay couples who want to have commitment ceremonies.
Before your wedding you need to get your marriage license. The chapel you are getting married at can help you get organized but don't wait until the last minute or you won't be taking any wedding photo.
Here
are some helpful tips to get you prepared ahead of time so you can be the most beautiful
and relaxed bride and groom.
1) You must be 18 years of age. You don't need
consent but you may need to show proof of age.
2) Both you and your significant
other must be present at the License Bureau.
3) Your Social Security Number
must be on the Affidavit of Application for a marriage license.
4) You must
pay in CASH only.
5) You need the proper ID. Bring an original or a certified
copy of ONE of the following:
A Driver's License, an Instruction Permit or ID card
from Nevada or another state, a Passport, a Birth Certificate and a second form of
ID that has your name on it, a Military ID Card or Military Dependant ID Card, a Certificate
of Citizenship, a Certificate of Naturalization, a Permanent Resident Card or a Temporary
Resident Card.
6) The names on your Las Vegas marriage license must match
the names on your Identification. There are two important reasons why over 112,000
people tie the knot in Vegas every year. First, you don't need a blood test and second,
you can get married immediately after you receive your license. In other words, there
is no waiting period like in other states. If you are from another country and
the County Clerk doesn't understand your birth certificate, he may ask that it be
translated into English and notarized. If you are renewing your vows, you don't need
a Las Vegas marriage license. You can go to a chapel in one of the Las
Vegas casinos and show them proof of marriage or your Marriage Certificate before
the ceremony begins. It's important to remember that if you want your marriage
to be legal, you must have the ceremony performed in the State of Nevada within one
year of receiving your marriage license. Any wedding chapel, church or the Civil Marriage
Commissioner's Office will honor your certificate. And of course, your Marriage Certificate
is recognized all over the world. Do what so many couples have done and get your Las
Vegas marriage license.
