Las Vegas Wedding License

Las Vegas wedding license is a must if you're going to be married in the 'Wedding Capital of the World.' One of the reasons over 100,000 weddings occur every year in Vegas, is due to the fact that once you get your license, no waiting period and no blood test are required. You can get married immediately afterwards. You actually have up to a year to use your license.

Insider Secret - Be sure to bring exactly $55 in cash when applying for your Las Vegas wedding license.

First thing you do is go down to the Marriage License Bureau, located at 201 Clark Avenue, in downtown Las Vegas, to fill out your application. It is open every day, from 8am to midnight, including weekends and even holidays. Don't wait until the last minute, because it's a very busy place and sometimes the line goes around the building.

When you apply you must
1. Be at least 18 years old.
2. Show proof of age.
3. Know your Social Security Number. (Not necessary if you are a non U.S. citizen.)
4. Be a man and a woman getting married. No same sex marriages in Nevada.
5. Be marrying someone no nearer of kin than a second cousin. You cannot be half-blood cousins.
6. Be single and not have a current husband or wife living.
7. Have $55 in cash to pay for the license.

When applying for your Las Vegas wedding license keep in mind that all your documents must be in English. You will have to have them translated if they are in another language. The following can be used as identification:

1. Driver's license or state-issued ID card.
2. Original or certified copy of birth certificate.
3. Foreign birth certificate which must be translated into English and notarized.
4. Passport.
5. Military identification.
6. Resident alien card.

You may be asked to prove your age. Without the proper ID, your marriage license can be refused. Check cashing cards or privately issued identification can not be used. Also damaged, faxed or photocopied forms of ID are unacceptable.

If you are from another country, be sure that you find out from officials in your country if you need particular documents to ensure that your marriage is recognized in your home country. Some countries might require a copy of your marriage certificate that is certified and an Apostille from the Secretary of State in Nevada to finalize the marriage in your country.

If you are applying for a Las Vegas wedding license and are divorced you will need to know the following:
1. The month, day, year, city and state of your divorce.
2. The divorce must be final and filed with the courts in the state or country granted.
3. You are not required to bring the divorce decree.

If you are a Minor, ages 16 or 17 for instance and not yet 18, you will need:
1. To have the consent of one parent or your legal guardian.
2. To have an original or certified copy of your birth certificate that lists the name of the consenting parent on it.
3. To have your parent or guardian in the License Bureau with you. They will need the proper ID to show they are your parent on your birth certificate or your legal guardian on the guardianship order.
4. If it's not possible for the parent or guardian to be present, an original, notarized statement in English must be presented, with a certified copy of your birth certificate or a certified copy of the guardianship order at the time the marriage license is issued. The notarized statement needs to contain the parent or legal guardian's full name, relationship to the minor, minor's full name, birth date and a statement that the parent or legal guardian gives consent for the minor to marry.
5. If you are less than 16 years of age, you can only marry if either a parent or legal guardian petitions the Nevada State Court. You will need to contact an attorney to prepare these documents.

Now you are ready to get married. Your ceremony can be performed in any church, Las Vegas chapels, or by a civil marriage commissioner. Any of these marriages are accepted around the world. If you are planning a civil wedding, your ceremony can be performed in the Commission office also located at 201 Clark Avenue. They are open from 8 am to 10 pm everyday, including weekends and holidays as well. Be sure to have your $55 in cash in exact change.
